Correlation of a Fully Implemented SHP 2nd Student Achievement
Purpose:
The purpose of this research was to explore the system -wide impact of a multi-
tiered, school-home partnership program within the structure of the Department of Defense Dependent Schools (DoDDS) on the academic achievement of high school students,
Main Partners:
The participants in this study were the parents, students educators, and administrative personnel of the DoDEA school system. Beneficiaries: Students in the DODEA school system, researcher;, parents, and educators. Contributors: Each school site contributed toward this particular initiative according to the needs unique needs of the community served by the local school, Essential elements: This study incorporated the Five Tiered Cone eptual Framework of Janet Chrispeels in order to build meaningful partnerships between family and community members and the local school.
Main Factors of its Success:
The conceptual framework of Janet Chrispeels provided the foundation for each school to build upon when developing their p artnership efforts.
Assessment/Evaluation:
The Site-Based Self-Evaluation (SBSE), developed by Judy Barokas, was used to evaluate the depth of the partnership efforts. The average age TerraNova scores for all 8th and I 10th grade students in each high school in DoDDS were correlated with the SBSE results of the teams of administrators, parents, and teachers. These score; were submitted to the SPSS software package and an ANOVA regression line produced a statistically significant relationship between the two scores: For every I point gain in SBSE, there was s an average 5.4 % increase in TerraNova science scores.
Number of Years in Existence:
The school-home partnership program has been incorporated into the DoDEA schools since I the 1996/1997 school year. It has expanded in scope to include now Networks of Partnerships, reaching out to businesses, institution; of higher education, governmental offices, philanthropic organizations, and foundations is.
Impact.
The impact that this program has had on individual I learning can be seen in the
rise in TerraNova scores in science.

This program can be replicated in any school system.
