Partnering for our Community - An initiative by teens to blend resources to provide social mentoring to youth.

Strand:
Citizenship

Through partnerships with entities such as city government, Junior Achievement, Central Florida Leukemia Society, Polk Economic Council, high school age students learn by doing, while providing needed services to the community at the same time. In addition to iimplementation of numerous service-based programs, the teens network to train teens in other communities to spread their success. Two initiatives involving elementary students from their feeder schools will be described in detail, one that teaches about leukemia, the other principles of economics. An overview of this unique program will be presented with examples of successful projects.
