Student Success = Workforce Improvement

Purpose
1. To assess regional participants’ perceptions of what is needed
to enhance workforce preparedness through:

. Student Achievement
. Community Partnerships Role in the Above
2. To use data compiled from assessments to develop the Mississippi
Association of Partners in Education plan of action for the coming year.

Assessment Process
Using the five factors listed above as measures of the strength of the regional meetings, all were deemed successful.
1. Attendance was at or above the 20 to 30 target size in each region
2. From six to nine diverse community organizations were represented.
3. A database was created from a statewide perspective.
4. New and re-committed human and material resources were identified.
5. Using the data and resources revealed in the meetings made it possible to
create an action plan based on the perceived needs of a diverse group of leaders.

The state’s partnership network has been in existence since 1984. It became an affiliate of the National Association of Partners in Education in 1994.

Impact
As a result of the regional meetings:
--A Community Accountability Assessment Tool has been developed to accompany
the state and national school accountability laws.
--A Community Accountability Campaign will be planned and implemented
to promote the proven ways that community partnerships with schools can positively impact state and national accountability standards and student success. The challenge will be to have:
Every Community Behind Every Child.
--New and re-committed human and material resources have been utilized in
planning the state conference.
--Collaboration efforts with the State Department of Education have increased.
--Increased visibility and offers to collaborate with other state agencies have been noted.

Potential Replication
Any state association that is willing to make the commitment of time and leadership required can successfully replicate the process.
