The name of the program is School-Home Partnership. This study addresses two of the Summit strands: Learning and Citizenship. This study investigated the relationship between the implementation of a multi-tiered, school-home partnership program on academic achievement, and the social and emotional growth of high school students within one department at a DoDEA school. The study used focus groups and Internet delivered survey instruments in order to extract perceptions of parents and students as to the impact of community participation in curricular and co-curricular school activities on student achievement, and student social and emotional growth. The findings of this study indicate that parents and students believe team building, socializing, and group interaction activities are as important to education as academic activities.
