Seminar Presentation BUILDING PARTNERSHIPS
(Utilizing PowerPoint presentation)
Over the past six years, and with no initial investment, weve created a thriving triad that puts post-secondary students out in the real world, shows industry how capable these students are, and gives students a competitive edge and course credit! Each partner in the NAITworking triad student, business, and college has benefited tremendously. This year 125 students with one year of a two year Business Diploma were actively involved in a four-week career position at one of 102 participating companies. These students return to fall classes with greater enthusiasm and a clearer focus on their chosen career path. Businesses have been highly satisfied with the students; so much so that approximately one third of the students were offered summer or full time employment directly as a result of their placement. In our third year we expanded to include national and even international placements with very positive results for all parties. Since the International Education Business Partnership Conference in Edinburgh, Scotland in July 2002, a strong student internship partnership has been established between NAIT and the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) in Arlington, Virginia. The DoDEA Community Relations/Office sponsors a NAIT student intern each year, providing a real world government experience in administration, finance and logistics. Come and let us share with you the secrets of our success!
